SNOCAP Linx
SNOCAP Linx leverages SNOCAP's Registry and Rights Management Service to give anyone who can build a website the ability to sell music directly to consumers. With SNOCAP Linx, retailers download a periodic data feed containing sound recording copyright information and licensing terms directly from SNOCAP's Digital Registry. Retailers use this information to determine the price, format, territory availability and play availability/restrictions for music registered with SNOCAP. SNOCAP Linx also provides a Web Services Application Programming Interface (API) that is used by the retail application to authorize real-time purchase and download transactions. After SNOCAP verifies the retail purchase, SNOCAP Linx allows the retail application to download the audio file from the SNOCAP Content Repository and deliver it to the consumer. All retail transactions are recorded by SNOCAP so that payments can be processed and distributed to the Artists and Labels who have registered content in SNOCAP's Digital Registry.
SNOCAP Linx Features:
Periodic Data Feeds containing information about content that retailers are licensed to sell
SNOCAP provides retailers with a data feed describing the content and associated license information they need to build an online store. The data feed gives the retailer:
- Information that uniquely identifies audio files.
- Pricing Information including wholesale prices set by rights holders.
- Usage Permissions including the ability to determine where music can be sold and whether it can be copied to portable devices or to CDs.
- Track and Album metadata.
Web Service API
- The real-time component of SNOCAP Linx is a Web Service API that is invoked by the retailer when the consumer purchases a track. The API is implemented using the SOAP protocol. The Web Service validates that the retailer has accepted payment, records the purchase transaction information and returns a URL to the purchased track.
Digital Rights Management Support
- SNOCAP Linx works with MP3s as well as content encrypted with WMA DRM.
Billing and Royalty Distribution
- SNOCAP invoices the Retailer at the end of the billing cycle for all transactions conducted through SNOCAP and then distributes payments to rights holders. SNOCAP provides retailers with online transactions reports and monthly statements indicating transaction history.
